Jameis Winston fans were arrested during Fan Day. This week, several fans were arrested while waiting in line to get autographs from Jameis Winston at the Fan Day event put together by Florida State University. Mr Winston also answered questions from reporters and was forced to ignore the ones posed using #AskJameis on Twitter, which were mainly about crab legs and rape.
On Monday, a very large number of fans came out to meet Jameis Winston during FSU’s Fan Day at The Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee, Florida.
Hundreds of supporters stood in long lines for hours hoping to get autographs from the star athlete.
Few fans grew impatient and a fight broke out, which lead to the authorities arresting at least 2 people.
Prior to meeting with his adoring fans, the Heisman Trophy winner spoke to reporters about his career.
When asked about being the man of the hour, the 20-year-old who plays football and baseball for the Florida State University Seminoles replied by saying that he is enjoying the fame and has nothing to prove.
The quarterback who is dating basketball player Breion Allen went on to add that he has a family and intends to make them proud.
In addition, to the meet and greet and press conference, an ill informed administrator from Florida State Seminoles had the stupid idea to tell folks on Twitter to use the hashtag #AskJameis to ask the outfielder and relief pitcher any question that they want.
About 40% of the questions were about the fact that he was cited for stealing crab legs from a Tallahassee Publix store few months ago and soda from a Burger King restaurant with three friends last year.
More than 30% of the comments were related to the claims that he raped a young woman in November of 2013. While a medical examiner concluded that the female did have injuries consistent with sexual assault, officer Scott Angulo who also worked for the university rapidly closed the case.
About 20% were inquiries about his reading skills and the last 10% had something to do with SpongeBob SquarePants.
The hashtag is still very active and the tweets get stranger by the minutes.
