Hope Solo domestic violence arrest is a blow to soccer fans. U.S. women’s soccer team legendary goalkeeper Hope Solo got arrested at her home in Seattle on Saturday morning for domestic violence.
Solo who is considered by many as the greatest goalie of all time in women’s soccer reportedly had an argument with her nephew and sister and things quickly escalated. Hope Solo who was out of control according to the person who dialed 911, allegedly assaulted her two relatives.
Seattle Times reports that the soccer star was hosting a party and around 1:00 am, police arrived at Solo’s home after receiving a 911 call for noise disturbance.
After careful evaluation of the tense situation, the officers concluded that the Seattle Reign FC goalkeeper was responsible for her sister and 17-year-old nephew’s visible injuries.
The police also stated that at the time of her arrest for two counts of domestic violence, Solo appeared intoxicated and upset. The 32-year-old athlete was then booked at a detention facility where she will wait for her Monday June 23rd court appearance.
Hope Solo who is married to former NFL star Jerramy Stevens is starting to have a reputation for drama outside of a soccer field. In November 2012 right before marrying Stevens, he was arrested for assaulting her.
Although a judge fail to find concrete evidence against the former football player, it was later revealed that the soccer legend did get injured during the incident.
The controversial pair decided to marry the day after and was able to keep their names out of the tabloids until this morning.
Since winning two Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012 Hope Solo became one of the biggest stars women’s soccer has ever known, she appeared on countless TV shows and landed numerous magazine covers and endorsement deals.
Solo who appeared on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” in 2011 was expected to take part in the U.S. women’s soccer team friendly match against France on Thursday but she pulled out on Wednesday citing “a family commitment.”
The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
