For the sake of her new baby, Hoda Kotb has decided it is time to stop drinking and shared the news of her booze-free lifestyle with the producers of TODAY.
Anyone, who watches the early morning talk show, knows two things about co-anchors Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, they are hysterical, and they are very passionate about alcohol.
Kotb, 52, adopted a baby girl named Haley Joy, who was born on Valentine’s Day and according to several sources, many things have changed in her life.
Miss Kotb is now a mother, who has to wake up in the middle of the night for bottle feedings, diaper changes, and during the day she has to focus on bonding with her baby and doing a lot of laundry.
A source close to Miss Kotb explained her decision: “Hoda isn’t shirking her image or responsibility.”
The insider went on to reveal: “But she’s told producers that she’ll be drinking mocktails from now on!”
In a new interview, Kotb said she launched the adoption process a long time ago, and had a tough time telling her boyfriend, Joel Schiffman, about her plan.
However, when she did work up the courage to bring up the topic, the 58-year-old financier immediately loved the idea and was eager to raise the baby with her.
Kotb shared: “I was afraid to even say it out loud, because then it felt so real. I said, ‘Think about it for a day or a week or whatever.’ And he said, ‘I don’t need a day. Let’s get this journey going.’ At that point I blubbered like a baby. It was like the dam burst.”
Kotb said Haley Joy will be calling Schiffman dad for he plans to play that important role in her life.
She said she is not getting much sleep but has never been happier in her life.
Many have rushed to Twitter to say they are happy, that she has decided to quit drinking for her baby.
