Grace Gealey and Trai Byers are engaged. The Empire actress made the announcement during the taping of an upcoming episode of the FABLife that will be airing on October 7.
Empire actors, Grace Gealey and Trai Byers, are taking their relationship to the next level. Gealey, 31, revealed during the filming of an episode of the FABLife, Tyra Banks‘ new syndicated daily lifestyle talk show, that the pair recently got engaged and was working on their wedding.
Reports of an engagement surfaced in July after Gealey was spotted with a huge engagement ring. Byers reportedly proposed on her birthday (July 26), and the Selma actor set up a surprise party at a restaurant in Chicago for his lady love. A source told E! News at the time:
“She thought it would just be the two of them going to dinner, but when they got there, he had arranged a party for about 20 of her friends and family members to surprise her.”
Empire co-stars, Jussie Smollett, Kaitlin Doubleday and Gabourey Sidibe were present at the birthday party turned engagement celebration. It was reported in March that Gealey and Byers were dating; they met on set in 2014. The relationship has never been stronger, an insider added:
“They are definitely going strong. They make a really cute couple.”
It is unclear if this engagement news will push the writers of Empire to connect their characters in the future. Fans are hoping for such outcome because they are really cute as a couple.
The second season of Empire started on September 23, and 16.18 million people watched the premiere. The second episode slipped a bit with 13.74 million viewers. Fox is hoping that things will pick up in the upcoming weeks with cameos from people like Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz.
