A continental giant rabbit, aka a German Giant, is looking for a home if possible in Scotland. The 7-month-old giant continental rabbit named Atlas is very friendly and will make its owner laugh.
Atlas, a continental giant rabbit also known as a German Giant, can be yours if you have lots of carrots, an extra room or a garden and love to be cuddled.
On January 8, the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals announced via their official website that they had recently taken a continental giant rabbit after its owner said that it could no longer care for it.
The enormous bunny named Atlas is a 7-month-old giant about the size of a small West Highland Terrier. Atlas, which is expected to keep growing, needs a home with plenty of room and if possible with experience of rearing rabbits. The rabbit could grow about 4 feet 4 inches and weigh over 53 lbs and live up to 5 years.
Anna O’Donnell, the head of the animal welfare charity, shared a picture of herself with the continental giant rabbit with the following statement:
“Atlas is already about the size of a westie and is still young with some growing to do. He is a very friendly rabbit who loves attention and getting cuddles. Atlas is also an inquisitive boy who makes everyone laugh with his mischievous character.”
O’Donnell added:
“We are looking for a specific home for Atlas due to his breed and size. A standard rabbit hutch won’t do so his new owner will need plenty of space for him. Atlas needs an owner with the knowledge to properly care for him, so ideally someone who has kept a continental giant before. If anyone is interested in offering him a home they should give us a call on 03000 999 999.”
According to experts, the Continental Giant is an enormous breed of rabbit that was bred in the late 1890s for its meat. The British Rabbit Council explained that it descends from the Flemish Giantin and is said to be friendly with other animals. The story has gone viral prompting some interesting comments about rabbits. A person, who ate rabbit meat, confessed:
“Had fried rabbit once. Tasted like tough fried chicken. i would cook that one for Valentine’s Day for my lady. Lol.”
A real animal lover shared:
“never knew a rabbit could be that big, and still growing. I love animals, I have three dogs, five cats, about twenty fish and one bird I had a snake it died, and wish them a good life with kind carers.”
A former rabbit owner stated:
He’s really beautiful. I had rabbits before and they can be really good friends if they are trained properly. They will sit on your lap, chase after toys and very cuddly and curious.
