Even though there is still a whole long year before fans can see the eighth and final season of the popular TV series Game of Thrones, there are still some great news for followers of the epic fiction saga.
Apparently, HBO has officially agreed to produce a pilot episode that could be only the beginning of a prequel series to Game of Thrones.
Writer Jane Goldman, who is famous for her work on titles like Kingsman: The Secret Service and X-Men: First Class is joining forces with author George R.R. Martin in creating the storyline that will again revolve mostly around the rivalry of different clans.
The epic duo from Game of Thrones, the showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, decided not to participate in the potential project since they have a deal with Disney, where they will be working on a new series of Star Wars movies.
So far, the title of the pilot episode is yet to be determined, but one thing is known for sure: the plot will touch on events that happened millennia before the ones described in the original series.
The plot of the new episode will most likely be about the Golden Age of Heroes and its fall into darkness. The real history of the creation of the white walkers will be told, or the true story of House Stark, and we expect many other secrets of the world of the series to be revealed.
According to a statement issued by HBO, the prequel will not start for at least a year after the final episode of Game of Thrones is aired, which means that the earliest possible beginning for the new series will be in 2020.
While most fans are excited about the announcement, they still think is too far down the road and would like to enjoy episodes of their favorite universe right now.
