“Empire” costars are dating, according to a new report, and fans are happy with the revelation. Grace Gealey, 30, plays Anika Calhoun, opposite 33-year-old Trai Byers, who portrays Andre Lyon on the Fox music-industry hit show.
Empire costars Trai Byers and Grace Gealey are dating, according to Examiner. The two TV stars have not made an announcement, but they were spotted at a wedding together.
Celebrity gossip titan TMZ.com started the dating rumors with a video of the two Empire costars getting cozy at the wedding of two actors – Lauren Whitney Johnson and Cedric Sanders – recently.
Us Weekly also confirmed that the Empire costars were dating. Byers and Gealey reportedly started the relationship after they met filming the Lee Daniels-produced primetime soap opera. A source told the publication:
“They started seeing each other during the shooting of the show. There was an instant attraction, people working on the show are aware about it. When they all hang out together they’ll cuddle and give a kiss, but it’s nothing obscene.”
Another source added:
“They are having a great time together.”
A third insider also confirmed that the Empire costars are dating, the person stated:
“Trai and Grace are super serious. They started dating in the middle of the season and are completely in love.”

Byers made a name for himself on shows like All My Children and 90210 before working on Empire. He was also seen in the Oscar-nominated movie Selma. Gealey, who was born in the Cayman Islands, performed in Off-Broadway theatres and Chicago productions of The Misanthrope and Tartuffe before joining the TV hit.
Although the two actors have been an item for few months and are very active on social media, they rarely share photos where they appear together. Nonetheless, fans are very happy that they found love off camera. Most commentators say they look cute together and hope that the relationship will last.

Could their characters get together in Season 2 of Empire? Possible, but it’s highly unlikely. Andre Lyon is the son of Lucious Lyon, (Terrence Howard), who is Anika Calhoun’s ex-fiancé in the Fox drama. Andre is married to Rhonda Lyon, (Kaitlin Doubleday), who is pregnant, power hungry, manipulative and possibly a murderer.
Empire was the big winner of the 2014-2015 TV season, it was renewed after just two episodes. The season finale was watched by over 16 million people, it proved that big ratings are still possible in this new digital era.
