The Duggars, gun, and children are the main ingredients of the latest controversy involving the stars of TLC’s hit reality show 19 Kids and Counting. Let’s dig a little deeper in the most recent drama involving the popular family.
The Duggars have a special relationship with guns and that’s the environment their children grew up in. So, what may seems innocent to them is enough to create a monster controversy for other people, who don’t necessarily share the same affinity with guns.
Last week, the family that has been involved in a lot of social controversies lately, uploaded new photos to their official Facebook page, according to The Inquisitr. Nothing out of the ordinary so far, that’s until few people started to take a closer look at some of the images.
In one of the photos that many have described as “dangerous,” 5-year-old Josie Duggar can be seen standing and a BB gun is lying on the ground in front of her. There are 9 other people in the picture, but none of them seem to be closely watching the child. The Duggars are being slammed for not putting gun safety ahead of everything else, some say that it only takes few seconds for something to go wrong and for tragedy to strike when guns are involved.
People defending the family believe that they were certainly other adults behind the camera and the child was probably never in real danger. The critics are pouncing nonetheless, hitting on what they see as irresponsible parenting.
On the other side, conservatives are highlighting the fact that everything is cause for drama and controversy in the “New America.” The photo would have probably been considered innocent 40 years ago, they say.
This is not the first time that members of this family have inserted themselves in the gun debate in America. In February, Jedidiah Duggar, 16, shared a Christmas picture of himself holding one of his gifts: a black shotgun.
What are your thoughts on the Duggar gun drama? Should children be allowed in close proximity of guns?
Reality check for those that seem to be mad about a BB gun and a child, Children that grow up in a family that teaches right from wrong don’t have the problems that those that are taught everything is ok without any Consequences… Todays society is backwards from when I was growing up… Teach Right from Wrong with CONSEQUENCES and life will be better… You don’t reward for losing…
The Duggars seem to have good ethics and values.
By the way the camera person has a responsibility to stop the child in any case by saying NO DO NOT TOUCH THAT GUN…… Preach it and Teach it…God Bless ALL… Proper corrections do not scar they TEACH…
