Demi Lovato dons risqué top and shorts and, of course, Twitterverse goes wild. The talented actress and singer appeared on Wednesday at Z100’s pool party in New York City to promote her new single “Cool for the Summer,” and decided to wear a head-turning outfit.
Demi Lovato‘s hot top and shorts from a NYC event have the Internet buzzing. Lovato looked great in a sexy bondage top and cutoff shorts. The bold summer look was the right choice for the occasion. The “Give Your Heart a Break” singer was at the party to celebrate the launch of her new song, “Cool for the Summer.”
Since Demi Lovato’s top and shorts have gone viral, they also brought some well-deserved attention to her new single “Cool for the Summer.” Lovato co-wrote the song with Max Martin, Ali Payami, Alexander Erik Kronlund, and Savan Kotecha. The audio that was posted on YouTube Wednesday morning was streamed over 2 million times in the past 24 hours.
Some have accused Lovato of copying Katy Perry‘s hit songs – “I Kissed a Girl” and “California Gurls.” The similarities are pretty obvious, but this can be explained by the fact that Martin was involved in crafting the three tracks. The “Skyscraper” artist addressed her critics saying:
“Sounds nothing like it and with all the advances we’ve made in the LGBT community… I think more than one female artist can kiss a girl and like it…..”
The new single’s bi-curiosity overtones have surprised some. BuzzFeed‘s Kelley Dunlap points out that “Cool for the Summer” seems to be about a same-sex summer fling, although Lovato, a former Disney Channel actress, has never addressed her sexuality. In 2013, Orange Is the New Black actress Ruby Rose claimed on social media that she had slept with Wilmer Valderrama‘s girlfriend.
Lovato’s team is not denying the same-sex angle, in a statement released via BuzzFeed, they seem to welcome the conversation.
“Demi’s just young and having fun. She’s in the driver’s seat for the first time in her career and she’s going to sing about whatever she wants to sing about.”
Regardless of the controversy or the message, most commentators agree to say that “Cool for the Summer” is a very appealing song. At the end of the day, that is all that really matters, girls just want to have fun.

We need less street walker and more singing talent. When you sell your body instead of your talent your soul suddenly goes missing.
