A drug dealer has been arrested for selling “Ebola” heroin. Barnabas Davis, better known as Hammer, was jailed after New Jersey police learned that he had more than 600 packets of crack cocaine and heroin in his possession, many of them were stamped with the brand name “Ebola.”
On October 20, a drug dealer who goes by the name of Hammer, was arrested for selling crack cocaine and “Ebola”-branded heroin in New Jersey. According to Toms River Police, they received a tip from Lakewood Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit about a man dealing various illegal substance behind the Ramada Inn along Route 9.
Mr Barnabas “Hammer” Davis was arrested with several packets of drugs in his possession and when they searched his hotel room, they made some rather bizarre discoveries. Hammer had a total of 633 wax folds containing heroin and about 40 grams of crack cocaine hidden in the room.
The 47-year-old man who thought that a deadly disease would boost sales, stamped many of the heroin packets with the brand name “Ebola.” Davis was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute.
He is currently being held at the Ocean County Jail on a $300,000 bond. It seems like the catchy name, “Ebola,” did not help with business because the drug dealer is unable to post bond. Toms River police officer, Ralph Stocco, spoke briefly to the media saying that people who purchased heroin from Davis will not contract the Ebola virus.
Stocco went on to share that while it may be shocking to some, it is very common for drug dealers to use disturbing “trademark” stamps on their products. In the past, he has arrested people selling drugs with the brand names like “Bin Laden,” “911,” or even “Hello Kitty.”
Hammer just assumed “Ebola” was great street name for his drugs.
