Darius McCrary, aka Eddie Winslow from Family Matters, was arrested on Wednesday for failing to pay child support to the mother of his son, Zechariah. Darius McCrary was released from jail in Oakland County, Michigan, after paying the $5,500 he owed and took to Twitter for a series of bizarre posts.
Actor Darius McCrary was arrested earlier this week, for not paying child support, but he claims it is all a big misunderstanding. On Wednesday, news broke that Darius McCrary was thrown in a jail in Oakland County, Michigan.
Darius McCrary is mainly known for playing the adorable Eddie Winslow in the hit ABC, and CBS show Family Matters opposite Jaleel White‘s Steve Urkel from 1989-1998. McCrary was briefly incarcerated for failing to pay child support.
The Young and the Restless star has a 5-year-old boy named Zechariah with a mysterious woman from Michigan with whom he had a one-night stand. The pair was embroiled in a very public and nasty custody battle that concluded in 2014 with McCrary winning full custody of the child.
According to a statement issued by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, McCrary was jailed early Wednesday and released later that day. Appearing in front of a judge, he was given two options, pay the $5,500 in back support or remain in jail for 14 days.
He rapidly signed a check and was set free. The Anger Management actor received a bit of positive news the same day. His second ex-wife and video vixen, Karrine “Superhead” Steffans, who had testified against him during the custody battle by saying that he physically abused his son, has confessed that she lied.
The former Mrs. Darius McCrary told a judge that she wanted to hurt the star and therefore fabricated a story about him beating the little boy with a spoon. Darius McCrary, who was being mocked on Twitter with images like the one below, fought back with a series of puzzling tweets.
