The bright and energetic student from Clemson was Kendall Wernet and he was only 20 years of age.

According to the Miami Fire Department, on Monday morning at around 8 AM, Wernet and few friends accessed the radar deck, which is a restricted area on the ship.

Many people claimed they saw the group talking and drinking while sitting in the dangerous spot. Friends of Wernet have stated that he was not drunk during the time of the accident. When the radar was turned on, it caught the young student off guard and he fell on the deck below.

The man fell about 20 feet and was treated by the ship’s medical staff, according to Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta.

Reports claimed that the night prior to his death, the student and his six friends watched another group climb onto the ship’s forward mast to admire the view.

Detective Zabaleta also revealed that the Clemson student was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died.

According to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office, Mr Wernet died of blunt force head trauma. This is the second death from Clemson in one week, the body of Tucker Hipps was found in Lake Hartwell after a fraternity run on September 22. Hipps fell 20 feet off a cliff near the college.

Wernet is the fourth Clemson student to die since July 1. Wernet won the Bahamas 3-day cruise as a reward for his student painting business Student Painters around the Asheville area of North Carolina.

The company’s owner, Steve Acorn who was also on the ship revealed that the friends climbed on the deck because they wanted to see the sunrise over Miami.

On August 17, after the death of legendary comedian Robin Williams, Wernet wrote a blog post on his website, thedrivenvision.com, where he reflected on the meaning of life. He wrote:

People cared about Robin Williams’s death because he made a difference in lives. The story is still on every news channel today even though almost a week has passed since the incident. We cannot look away from the story.

This got me thinking: How will the world react when I die? Will my face be on the news? Will people say it was a terrible occurrence? What will they remember about me?

Ask yourself these same questions.
