Christa Engles shot by her toddler and the tragedy is grabbing headlines. On Monday, while changing her baby’s diaper, Engles was shot and killed by her toddler who found a loaded gun under the sofa.
3-year-old toddler shot Christa Engles as she was caring for a baby, according to Examiner. On Monday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m., Engles, a veteran of the National Guard, was at home with her two children.
The Engles reside at South 168th East Avenue in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to police, as Christa Engles was changing the diaper on her 1-year-old baby girl, her 3-year-old son found a gun under a nearby sofa, and accidentally shot her in the head.
Less than an hour after the shooting, the 26-year-old mother was dead. Engles’ mother, who was not at the home at the time of the shooting, discovered her daughter’s body and the children covered in blood.
The toddler was interrogated by police and he repeated several times “Mommy shot.” Law enforcers also claimed that several guns were found in the home and the toddler discovered the “large caliber” handgun under a couch.
On Tuesday, Christa Engles’s husband, Brian Engles, took to Facebook where he advised people to tell their loved ones, how much they care for them. Mr Engles said:
“I lost my Wife to an accident yesterday.Don’t forget to tell your loved ones they are loved. You really never know when the last I love you really is the last.”
Brian Engles, who is a truck driver, went on to add:
“It’s a new day, it will be my first without you.I have so much on my mind but it doesn’t matter. I know you loved me, I worship the ground you walked on. I am the luckiest man alive, to have been able to love you. Since the day i met you you have been the best part of me. I love you Precious Angel.”
Jade Lyeh Horton, a childhood friend of Christa Engles, stated that she was shocked because her pal was so responsible and added:
“She’s in the military. She is a trained gun handler.”

Wow, I’m liking the NRA more and more…NOT.
This happened because this family did not properly secure their guns. It has nothing to do with the NRA.
Hopefully others will learn from this tragedy to always make sure their weapons are secured, especially around children.
