Bruce Springsteen gave a note to a 9-year-old boy after a late concert, and the story has added a new layer to the rocker’s legendary status. Can The Boss get any cooler?
A Bruce Springsteen tardy note has gone viral and brought a lot of joy to a young fan named Xabi Glovsky. The boy and his father, Scott Glovsky, went to a sold-out concert in Los Angeles Tuesday night, which finished late.
During the show at the Sports Arena, Xabi held a sign that read, “Bruce, I will be late to school tomorrow please sign my note.” The music legend got the message and invited the duo backstage at the end of the concert. Springsteen wrote a note for Xabi, and it said, “Dear Ms. Jackson, Xabi has been out very late rocking & rolling.”
The dad was really touched by the gesture and posted about it on social media. Scott stated:
“Bruce Springsteen signed Xabi’s tardy note for school tomorrow. He is as genuine and gracious as you think he is!”
He also told KTLA the following:
“I thought the chances that we would get an autograph from it, that he would sign it, would … probably be one in a thousand. I didn’t imagine, in my wildest dreams, that we could actually meet him and go backstage.”
The day after the concert, Xabi and his dad woke up around 10.45 a.m. The note impressed people at Xabi’s school since some of them are also fans of The Boss. Xabi shared:
“The people in the office, too. They said it was like, the best tardy note of all time.”
This is not the first time that Springsteen has inspired an interesting tardy note. In February, Patrick Pipino, 48, from Saratoga Springs, New York posted a funny note on Facebook that was destined to his daughters’ principals. It read:
“[They were] lucky enough to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Albany, and darned if he didn’t play for three and half hours. This may not seem like a good excuse, but have you ever wondered how many kids would be late — or miss school outright — if God were to suddenly appear? It’s something like that.”
Local media covered 12-year-old Isabelle and Sarah, 7, and their note.
