Officials at the Bucks County Coroner’s Office were left red-faced after a dead body being transported by one of their vans fell onto a busy street in Pennsylvania last week. The office quickly apologized for the incident and claimed the van’s rear door is very old and malfunctioned.
Body falls from coroner’s van, shocking motorists in Pennsylvania. On Friday at around lunch time, many drivers on the busy 100 block of E. Street Road in Southampton, Pennsylvania, thought that a prankster was playing an elaborated hoax on them for some weird television show, when a body on a gurney fell out of a van and landed on the road.
The dead body wrapped up in large white sheets, strapped to a gurney stumbled on the roadway created a brief traffic jam that attracted many curious drivers, and shoppers who were at a mall nearby.
The driver rapidly understood that the corpse he was transporting to the Bucks County Coroner’s Office was on the street and rushed to get it back in the vehicle with the help of a bystander.
But many people had already taken pictures of the strange happening and shared them on Facebook.
In a press release, officials from the Bucks County Coroner’s Office quickly apologized for the incident and explained that van was not supposed to be in usage.
It was revealed that the vehicle is very old and has a faulty door which is why it malfunctioned during the trip.
The staff member of Bucks County Coroner’s Office went on to say that the van has been taken out of service and blamed himself for not removing the transport vehicle earlier .
They have also taken the opportunity to have an expert check all of the vans belonging to the Bucks County Coroner’s Office.
