Bindi Irwin celebrated Steve Irwin Day by sharing a very moving post on Instagram. To cap the Australian holiday, which honors her father, Bindi got a perfect score on Dancing With The Stars.
Bindi Irwin and her dancing partners delivered an A+ performance on Dancing With The Stars just hours after honoring her late father, Steve Irwin, on social media.
On Sunday, November 15, Australia celebrated Steve Irwin Day – which honors the late Steve Irwin, who was famous for appearing on the hit television series, The Crocodile Hunter, with his wife, Teri Irwin.
Mr. Irwin passed away in 2006 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb while filming a wildlife documentary series for his daughter. On Steve Irwin Day, countless events are held around the world, but mainly in his native Australia to honor the life and legacy of the famed wildlife expert and television personality.
Miss Bindi Irwin shared a picture where her father is seen holding what appears to be a Komodo dragon and giving the camera his iconic smile. In the caption portion, the teenager thanked her dad for his love and support, and told him that she will do all she can to follow in his footsteps while making him proud. The bright young lady told Irwin that she misses him every day and went on to add:
The greatest Dad on Earth. November 15. Steve Irwin Day. Remembering everything Dad worked so hard to achieve and continuing his legacy. We miss you so much and are extremely proud to be carrying on in your footsteps. Yesterday we celebrated #SteveIrwinDay in Australia. Today, let’s celebrate together on the other side of the world, today on November 15. Thank you for joining us in making a difference. Wearing our khakis and remember everything Dad did to change the world.
Recently, the teen did an interview where she revealed that she refuses to be sad over her father’s death. Instead, she is determined to keep his memory alive. She confessed.
“When you lose a loved one, you come to these crossroads. You can take the path that leads you down the aisle of sadness, or you can say, ‘I’m never going to let this person’s memory die. I’m going to make sure everything they worked for continues.'”
Bindi’s dance partner and tree-hugging friend, Derek Hough showed support by tweeting and asking his followers to celebrate Steve Irwin Day. He tweeted:
“It’s officially #steveirwinday in Australia. He will always be remembered. #legend #wildlifewarrior @bindisueirwin #teamcrikey4life.”
Bindi Irwin continued to make her family proud by delivering an epic jazz performance with the help of her partners – Hough and Mark Ballas on Monday’s episode of Dancing With The Stars. The three pals used an empty box and a light bulb for a routine that looked fun, creative and professional. They received a perfect score of 30 and were showered with compliments.
Julianne Hough said the dance was “innovation” and “there was a lot of attention to details.” Bruno Tonioli said it was “totally compelling” and a “work of genius” and added that Bindi’s “inner light will never be extinguished.” Moreover, Carrie Ann Inaba screamed and screamed some more before saying it was a “professional contemporary dance company.”
