Bill Clinton will be speaking at the convention, and he will write his speech. Sources close to former President Clinton revealed that he will have a prime-time slot at the Democratic National Convention where he is expected to convince Americans that his wife is the leader that they need.
It is official; Bill Clinton will be a speaker at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, which is set to take place between July 25–28 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
An anonymous source close to the former president revealed that he has been writing his speech and will be given a prime time slot on Tuesday night.
It is not known what topics the former president will bring up during his speech, but Democrats are hoping he will do for Hillary Clinton what he did for Barack Obama in 2012.
While Mr. Clinton is known for making gaffes of epic proportions, he is also known for being an excellent surrogate, who can rally the troops, simplify and explain complex policies and convince voters to cast their ballots for the person he is backing.
Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta stated:
“All I know is he’s writing it himself, which gives me some confidence. It’ll be good. He’s always good. Remember what he did for Obama in North Carolina. People micro-pick his mistakes. I think if you look at his change-maker stuff, it’s good and effective.”
Hillary Clinton’s campaign has declined to comment on this story. Along with Mr. Clinton, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren will also be speaking at the convention.
The fiery Democrat, who has been blasting Donald Trump, will open the convention, and many say that is a sign that she will not be VP. Bernie Sanders and Vice President Joe Biden are also expected to deliver speeches at the event.
