Jimmy Bennett was mocked in front of a live Italian audience when he told his story about how he was raped at the age of 17 by actress Asia Argento.
The actor showed up for his first ever interview on the small screen, and he opened up about what happened in the past in front of the host of the show, renowned Italian journalist Massimo Giletti.
However, it appears that Giletti was not impressed by Bennett’s story as he expressed his doubts over whether it was possible for a woman to assault a man sexually.
The newsman stated: “A woman’s violence against a man or a boy is technically difficult to understand. Do you understand what I mean? A man has to take an active role, even if he is subjected to it.”
During the interview, which lasted about an hour, Bennett talked about his experience with Argento in great detail.
According to him, the Italian #MeToo activist took advantage of his young age and raped him.
At the time, Argento denied Bennett’s story and claimed his words were just a part of a plot against her, aiming to ruin her reputation.
Later, it became known that the late boyfriend of the actress, Anthony Bourdain, had paid Bennett nearly $400,000 so he would stop pleading his case and discontinue the drama in court.
Furthermore, Bennett explained it was tough for him to talk about this in front of people he did not know because he feared that people would not believe him, but he decided it was time to tell the truth.
After Bennett finished his story, Giletti asked him why he did not look traumatized or upset in a photo of the young actor and Argento, taken right after the alleged rape occurred.
However, Bennett’s lawyer defended him by asking if this attention to detail was because of his client’s gender.
