According to recent reports, the alleged victim that was sexually assaulted by Italian actress Asia Argento has finally decided to speak up and bring the matter to the police.
Jimmy Bennett, a former child actor, claimed that he suffered sexual misconduct by Argento when he was just 17 years old, and she was 37.
According to Bennett, the incident occurred in a hotel room in California, and he decided to raise his voice and file a police report about the case right after Argento’s lawyer defended his client by saying on Tuesday it was Bennett who assaulted the Italian actress.
When the first rumors of Bennett’s story started circulating on the Internet, Argento’s initial reaction was to deny she had ever been in an intimate relationship with her young colleague, even though she confessed that her late partner, Anthony Bourdain, had paid Bennett $380,000 to keep him quiet.
However, Argento’s version of the story was quickly compromised when her text conversation with model Rain Dove was leaked online.
In the leaked conversation, Argento admits that she had had physical intercourse with the underage actor and the act could not be considered rape.
One of them read, “The horny kid jumped me. I had sex with him, and it felt weird.”
Furthermore, Mark Heller, Argento’s attorney, stated that the leaked texts could be used as proof that it was Bennett who assaulted Argento and the Italian actress was the victim in this situation.
According to Heller, Bennett’s past has not been all clean since he allegedly was charged with “unlawful sex with a minor” back in 2014 by the Los Angeles Police Department. However, the Los Angeles District Attorney denied Heller’s claim.
Argento is also busy attacking her former #MeToo ally, Rose McGowan. In a Friday tweet, the controversial artist wrote, “It is a shame that @rosemcgowan is not prepared to accept when she is wrong. Rose’s statement continues to make false claims.”
Bennett has said that he will be donating the money he received from Argento to the #MeToo movement.
