“The Wire” actor Anwan Glover who was stabbed in a Washington DC club has issued a statement on the matter. Glover best known for his role in “The Wire,” and “Treme” revealed that two strangers, beat and stabbed him while he was performing at the Café Asia. Glover, a father of 6, said he was taken to a hospital where he was treated for the non-life threatening injuries.
Anwan Glover has taken to Instagram, to shed light on the stabbing incident, in which he was involved on Saturday.
“The Wire” actor born Ralph Anwan Glover, explained that he was at the Café Asia to support a band that was playing, when he got into a fight with two men he does not know.
The musician stated that he was punched and kicked several times by the individuals.
As he was trying to defend himself, he felt a sharp pain in his torso that is when he realized that he was stabbed by his attackers.
The television actor was rushed to the George Washington University Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, which include laceration on the right side of his torso and numerous bruises.
Glover said that he was treated for the non-life threatening injuries, released from the hospital and is now at home recovering.
The disc jockey who was a member of the Backyard Band and has collaborated with rapper Wale and Boyz n da Hood also thanked his fans for their support and kind words during this difficult time.
The “Treme” star who has 6 children (Kavon, Genesis, Chynna, Talaya, Jajuan, and Jadai), went on to add that he is used to trials and tribulations and will rise once more.
Glover who last appeared in the Oscar-winning movie Twelve Years a Slave, works at WKYS-FM radio in the Washington, D.C. area, where he often talks about the need to stop the violence that is destroying young lives in America.
Grover was shot 13 times as a teen and his brother Tayon was shot and killed in 2007 by a gunman in the District’s Columbia Heights neighborhood.
