Angelina Jolie’s wedding gift to Brad Pitt is very surprising. Jolie had plans to purchase a typewriter worth $250,000 that belonged to Ernest Hemingway as a wedding gift for Pitt, but changed her mind.
Angelina Jolie‘s wedding gift for her husband was supposed to be a historic typewriter, but she had a change of heart. According to TMZ, Jolie contacted L.A. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff, who has an impressive typewriter collection.
Jolie told Soboroff that she wanted to purchase his Tennessee Williams typewriter as a wedding gift for Brad Pitt. Despite offering an impressive amount of money, Soboroff told her no.
Angelina Jolie opted to buy a 1926 Underwood that belonged to Ernest Hemingway. It is believed to the be the last typewriter used by the Nobel Prize winner before he committed suicide in July of 1961 in Ketchum, Idaho.
Hemingway used that same typewriter to give life to For Whom the Bell Tolls, which was published in 1940. Angelina Jolie offered to pay $250,000 for the typewriter and Soboroff accepted.
Angelina’s production company’s Chivan Productions mailed an $11,000 check as deposit, but had a change of heart. Jolie decided to get Pitt another wedding gift, but never asked Soboroff for the $11,000 back.
Soboroff opted not to keep the money and returned it to Jolie. While the world will never know what Pitt received as wedding gift, Jolie is willing to share what they said as vows.
Jolie and Pitt, who wed in France, had a portion of their wedding vows written by their children, Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and twins, Knox and Vivienne, 6. Jolie said:
“They did not expect us never to fight, but they made us promise to always say, ‘Sorry,’ if we do,” she spilled. “So they said, ‘Do you?,’ and we said, ‘We do!'”
The actress, who lived with Pitt for 8 years before getting married, added:
“It feels nice to be husband and wife.It does feel different.”
After a successful acting career, a family and marriage, it appears that Jolie is thinking about running for office. She explained:
“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered.Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility.”
What are your thoughts on Angelina Jolie’s wedding gift that never was?
Thoughtful, generous, I think that was a very cool gift. You could see she gave it a lot of thought. I really like her. And they have proved to be a loving fun family. For me my best times were playing with my kids. Its fun in a family kids say and do funny stuff. I can’t believe tho everywhere they go all the cameras and people in there faces wanting stories and gossip that part would make me crazy. I live on 800.00 a month disability I wish so much I could take my kids on vacation or buy them something nice. They are blessed in that way. Iam happy for them.
I am wishing that vacation for you too!
