Angelina Jolie dazzled at the Unbroken premiere in Australia. Jolie, who was accompanied by husband, Brad Pitt, wore a stunning Gucci lace gown to the red carpet event.
Angelina Jolie‘s Unbroken premiere gown was simply gorgeous. On Monday, Jolie walked the red carpet of the world premiere of her new movie, Unbroken, held at the State Theatre in Sydney, Australia.
Jolie wore a full-length black lace Gucci Premiere gown, which highlighted her tiny frame. The mother of six completed the look with an Anita Ko bangle, a pair of stud earrings and a small diamond ring, which was not her million dollar wedding ring.
Angelina Jolie was accompanied by new husband, Brad Pitt, who sported a black suit. The newlyweds posed with fans who lined up for hours in front of the State Theatre.
Jolie also took pictures with Unbroken‘s actors, Jack O’Connell, who was cast as Louis “Louie” Zamperini, Melody Ishihara and Miyavi Ishihara who plays Mutsuhiro “The Bird” Watanabe.
Unbroken, which was directed by Jolie, is based on the 2010 non-fiction book by Laura Hillenbrand, entitled Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption.
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption is a biography of American World War II hero, Louis Zamperini, a former Olympic track star.
In 1943, Zamperini along with pilot, Russel Allen “Phil” Phillips, and Francis “Mac” McNamara, survived a plane crash in the Pacific theater.
McNamara died after 33 days, while Phillips and Zamperini survived 47 days drifting on a raft. The duo made it to Marshall Islands where they were captured by the Japanese Navy who tortured them for more than two and a half years.
Zamperini was beaten by Mutsuhiro “The Bird” Watanabe, an imperial Japanese Army sergeant in World War II who was infamous for being bipolar and barbaric.
Zamperini, who was honored with a Purple Heart, died in July of 2014 in California after a lengthy battle with pneumonia. He was 97.

Angelina Jolie spoke about the passing of the war hero:
“It is a loss impossible to describe. We are all so grateful for how enriched our lives are for having known him. We will miss him terribly.”
While Zamperini was not able to see Unbroken, the movie, he did view an audition tape. Jolie shared:
“I showed that audition tape to Louis, and he smiled. As a director, to have Jack in front of your lens is a gift. He draws you in, he makes every moment honest. In his work, he gives all that he has.”
Angelina Jolie explained why she believed O’Connell was perfect to play Zamperini. The Oscar winner said:
“The auditions were very intense and none more so than the cell.In the cell, the actors would be confined, not knowing if he would be there for three minutes or an hour. A crew member with a rubber baton would go in at unexpected times and hit the actor. It didn’t hurt, but the feeling would bring up the emotion of the loss of freedom, the control, the never knowing, the sense of powerlessness.”
The movie will arrive in theaters on December 25, 2014. Below are more pictures of Angelina Jolie at the Unbroken premiere.
