Adrienne Bailon and Lenny Santiago, her fiancé of seven months, have called off their engagement. The talented TV personality and the music executive were together for six years.
Adrienne Bailon, 31, has announced the end of her engagement to 44-year-old Lenny Santiago after a six-year relationship. Bailon spoke about the matter on the Wednesday episode of her talk show, The Real. Bailon said that she remains close to her ex, but she is looking forward to her life as a single woman. Bailon shared:
“I’m not engaged anymore. We’re in a good place. It’s not an ‘awww’ thing, I promise you. It was a hard decision to make when you’re with somebody for such a long time. I think, as women, we have a hard time with change. It was hard for me. You have to be true to yourself, you have to be honest with yourself. We’re going to be great friends forever. We’re gonna be OK.”
The Roc Nation executive lives in New York, and the former 3LW singer moved to Los Angeles last year for her show. Here is what she had to say about the big change in a July interview with Cosmopolitan for Latinas:
“When I got the job, everyone was asking, what are you going to do? I thought that was an absurd question. There is no way I’m not going to follow my dream for a man. In my 30s, that feeling clicked: Yes, I love you, yes, I want to be with you, yes, I want a family with you, but I come first. Once I was able to articulate that, Lenny found me even more attractive. I think that’s why I’m engaged today.”
Bailon spoke to US Weekly about the breakup, she explained:
“I am, of course, sad that things didn’t go as we planned, but we still remain close friends. Six years is a long time to be together, but we had to make the decision to go with our hearts and not be embarrassed or afraid of change. He absolutely helped make me a better person and I will forever cherish the time we shared together.”
The I’m in Love with a Church Girl actress added:
“Right now I am taking time for myself and I’m glad to be back at work with my favorite ladies and the incredible crew of The Real. Life lessons are hard but I’m grateful that I have a platform to share my journey and hopefully encourage, inspire, or just let women know they are not alone and to never give up on finding love. I still believe. I feel so blessed and excited for the new season of The Real and I truly appreciate the support from everyone!”
Before getting with Lenny Santiago, Adrienne Bailon dated Rob Kardashian from 2007 to 2009. Bailon, who appeared in thirteen episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, fought with the family on social media last year after a supposed diss during an interview with Latina magazine.
According to sources, long distance may have contributed to the split.
