#AllLivesDidntMatter has been trending on social media networks because of Jennifer Lopez, and because it is never a good idea to mess with black Twitter.
On Wednesday, Jennifer Lopez took to Twitter and Instagram where she shared a picture of herself performing, her new single entitled “Love Make the World Go Round” with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda on NBC’s Today.
The money generated by the track will benefit the families of the 49 innocent people killed during the mass shooting at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub. The story seemed positive until you read the hashtags Lopez decided to use accompanying the picture. The mom of two captioned the snapshot: #AllLivesMatter.
From there on, social media erupted with thousands of messages either bashing the singer/actress, or lengthy explanations as to why she should never use that term again.
Needless to say that the slamming led Miss Lopez to delete her post quickly. Here are few tweets that were sent out to remind the world that #AllLivesMatter because blacks were enslaved, Indians were killed for their lands, women were unjustly treated, and many black men including Philando Castile, Eric Garner, Mike Brown, Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, Trayvon Martin, and Alton Sterlin.
How to Get Away with Murder actor Matt McGorry said: “saying all lives matter is the equivalent of saying all diseases matter during the uproar of the AIDS epidemic in the ’80s.”
