The group wedding took place on June 14th a the St. George Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints about a year after the sudden death of their brother.
On June 14th, proud parents Marie and Kevin Fortney attended four weddings.
The couple’s 4 children (some biological and some adopted) said I do in 4 separate wedding ceremonies lasting about 30 minutes at the St. George Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and later had a joint reception for all of the 1000 family members and close friends.
Grace Fortney, 23, wed Nick.
Meagan Fortney , 23, married Taylor, while Jessica Fortney who is 19 said I do to Kipp.
Marcus Fortney walked down the aisle with longtime girlfriend Blaire.
Talking to several media outlets, Marie and Kevin Fortney revealed that the three sisters and one brother were always good friends, but tragedy brought them even closer.
In 2013 the family lost their oldest son Casey Fortney and the loss pushed the siblings to look at life differently.
Mrs Fortney said the following about the weddings preparations:
“We took the girls individually and picked out their wedding dresses. We did not know any of our children’s in-laws very well, so we called each of them right off and took them out to dinner and got acquainted with them and explained that we wanted each family to have the wedding for their son or daughter that they wanted. We wanted to make it a happy time for everyone”
A very emotional Mr Fortney who had to walk three daughters down the aisle the same day confessed:
“There are few things that can compare to the fullness of joy that you feel when your children are happy,”
The 8 newlyweds had separated honeymoons and are enjoying their married lives.
As for Mr and Mrs Fortney they are hoping that their children will also coordinate the births of their grandchildren in the upcoming 9 months.
